In years gone by the UK used to be the only place residents would take their holidays in.  Beach resorts up and down the British coastline saw roaring trade and throughout the year thousands flocked to the shore of popular resorts such as Blackpool and Skegness to grab a deck chair and lounge in the rare British summer sun whilst the children built sand castles and had donkey rides along the beach.

Whilst the introduction of the commercial airlines did see Brits jetting off to foreign countries with arguably better weather than the UK the UK holiday resorts still had popularity with many UK holidaymakers.  A lot of people have believed that UK holiday resorts are only for the older generation but there has been a lot of interest from new families who may have young children and are not comfortable with flying.

Since the financial downturn a lot more families that usually go abroad for their holidays have been holidaying here in the UK to save money but this hasn't meant that they are having to compromise.  There are plenty of activities and entertainment at UK holiday resorts especially family holiday parks dotted around the UK.

Holiday parks in the UK at popular destinations like Skegness, Bognor Regis and Minehead have had so much interest over the past year that in order to cope with rising demand for next year they are having to build entire new hotels.  This clearly shows how popular holidaying in the UK has become and with family groups with young children being the main crowd that are coming to UK resorts these hotels and accommodation options are making sure that families enjoy their stay with bunk beds and a dedicated sleeping den for the kids complete with TV and DVD player to space for cots and prams with their wide corridors.

The main draw for UK resorts is the wide array of entertainment and activities available from variety acts to professional groups and singers in the evening and sports and attractions like fun fairs and indoor water parks for during the day.  Many of these resorts are located right by the beach or coast so if the weather is favourable you can go to the beach easily, if the weather sours then head back to the parks for their indoor activities and attractions to keep the fun going.  It's clear to see why UK resorts have been so popular and look to be next year's big draw yet again.
